Information on the Certified Medical Claims Professional Exam

A Certified Medical Claims Professional (CMCP) is a professional Medical Biller who has demonstrated formal knowledge of medical insurance billing in the health care setting in the United States. This is a new certification especially created for entry level candidates, as no other certification exists that does not require work experience. CMCP is expected to become the most well known and highly regarded entry level certification for Medical Billers.

New Medical Billers who earn the CMCP will have demonstrated their formal knowledge of the billing process, even if they don't have job experience. Earning a CMCP is evidence of a self-motivated commitment to learn quality medical billing processes. CMCP holders also distinguish themselves from non-credentialed Medical Billers, who currently constitute the majority. Voluntary medical billing certification indicates initiative as well as compliance with the professional standards for practice in this medical support services specialty of medical billing.

The American Career Certification Board (ACCB), the non-profit organization that defines professional standards for the entry level professional, grants the CMCP medical certification title.
